Research Project

1. The goal of a research project is to (a) provide evidence for the reality of Unidentified Flying Objects based on analysis of written or oral records or reports; or (b) to invent, develop or analyze techniques or equipment that would provide control over gravity for propulsion purposes; or (c) invent, develop or analyze techniques that would influence the flow of information from one mind to another without conventional electronic connections.

2. The criteria for acceptance will include a non-numerical blend of the following:

  • Importance of the result if successful.

    • for clarifying the UFO issue.

    • for media appeal.

    • for building a craft.

    • for influencing society.

  • Probability of success.

  • Overall apparent costs.

  • Legality: the project must not violate any existing laws.

3. MUFON - Orange County (and MUFON International if they participate) will have the right to claim sponsorship on all publications of this work or to ensure that their name is not connected with any publications. It is now planned that the work and the results will remain the intellectual property of the researcher. We will plan to offer the opportunity of publishing a synopsis of the work in the MUFON Journal promptly.

4. Because we want to make our research dollars go as far a possible, we elect at this time to not offer to pay for the labor time of the researcher. However, we would hope to defray virtually all expenses associated with the accomplishment of the work. We will expect to pay a fee of perhaps 10% of the total costs as an incentive to participate. We are expecting to contemplate projects whose total cost is between $500 and $1500 at this time, but there is no minimum required. If this program is successful, we may obtain more funding for larger projects.

5. The projects will be selected based on a 2-5 page proposal of flexible format that must include:

  • Names of all research personnel, phone, fax, email.

  • Title of the proposed project.

  • Purpose, goals and scope of the project (i.e., a "statement of work").

  • Expected final results.

  • Relevance of researcher(s') background to the work (employment history, prior research projects, publications).

  • Frequency and scope of interim reports.

  • Estimate of scope and costs of purchased work or parts.

  • Schedule for accomplishing the research and date of final report.

  • Proposal should be done on 8.5 x 11 inch paper mostly, with legible type.

6. The selection of projects will be determined by the Board of Directors of MUFON - Orange County. No liability will be assumed by them, collectively or individually, for any disputes arising from consideration, rejection, or implementation of a research project.

7. The MUFON - Orange County Board Members shall be ineligible for the 10% fee but are not excluded from proposing projects. However, the intent is to solicit fresh, new, exciting ideas from competent people in the public domain.

8. Submit your proposal to:
